New Kaizer Chiefs vice-captain Willard Katsande has promised to work on his ability from the spot following a costly miss in the F.A.M.E Charity Cup final loss to Baroka.

Chiefs drew a blank in the shootout as Baroka shot-stopper Oscarine Masuluke kept went on to deny William Twala as well as George Maluleka to condemn the Glamour Boys to an embarrassing defeat.

The usually reliable Katsande is Chiefs’ penalty taker of choice and the midfielder was successful from the spot on four occasions last season.

‘The penalty kicks were a big disappointment, for the team and also for me personally, as the captain on the day. I take responsibility and will work on it,’ Katsande told the club’s website.

The defensive midfielder, who was the Amakhosi’s join top scorer last season, nevertheless played down the significance of the defeat, insisting the side are still in the preparation phase ahead of the 2016-17 season.

‘We are perfecting some of the tactics. We are also cautious not to give away much detail to the opponents at this stage of the pre-season,’ he added.

Finally, the veteran midfielder admitted there was plenty hid side could improve on ahead of their opening game of the new season against Bidvest Wits on August 23.

The 30-year-old made 37 appearances last term, scoring seven times.
