MultiChoice DStv has been confirmed as the new sponsor of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) replacing Absa ahead of the 2020-21 season.
It has been widely reported that the broadcaster was the front-runner to secure the title sponsorship deal, while others such as Bidvest and Betway were also among the reported interested parties.
The deal between Absa and the PSL, which has been in place since 2007, expired at the end of the recent 2019-20 campaign with the bank not looking to renew.
PSL chairman Irvin Khoza announced the news from the SuperSport studios in Randburg, Gauteng on Thursday evening.
DStv, a division of the MultiChoice Group, is already in partnership with the PSL to sponsor the reserve league, known as the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.

The sub-Saharan African direct broadcast satellite service also sponsors the league’s reserve league cup known as the Multichoice Diski Shield.
The new 2020-21 season is scheduled to kick off next month.
