Premier Soccer League chairman Irvin Khoza has credited Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, calling him the best tactician of the PSL era.
Khoza has bestowed praise upon the coach for his hard work as he has grown in experience over recent years, first rebuilding Mamelodi Sundowns, then leading them to domestic success, before guiding them to new heights as they claimed the Caf Champions League this past weekend.
‘It’s a fact, Pitso Mosimane is the most successful coach in the history of the PSL,’ Khoza declared, reports KickOff. ‘Pitso has earned what he has achieved today. He has gone through all the steps of coaching development.
‘Pitso used to take a taxi to Algeria and Egypt to go spy on his opposition. He has always been a hard working young man. Pitso started at the bottom. He started as a coach of the Soweto District U-17 squad,’ Khoza added.
Khoza also addressed the role of Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe in the club’s success, thanking him for his investment in South African football.
‘We want to thank Mr Motsepe for the role he has played. The PSL now has two stars,’ he said, in reference to Orlando Pirates’ continental triumph back in 1995.
‘As a dominant league in the continent, it is long overdue that teams in the PSL win more stars,’ he concluded.
Sundowns have enjoyed arguably the most prosperous year in their history under Mosimane as they secured the Premiership title by a record points margin, lifted the Telkom Knockout, and finally claimed Caf Champions League glory.
