Bafana Bafana shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune’s injury is not as serious as first feared, the player has confirmed.
The Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper has been added to Owen Da Gama’s Amajita squad as one of the over-age age players who will partake in the Rio 2016 Olympics, but the player’s fitness had come into question following an injury in training.
Now, however, it has been revealed the star’s injury is not very serious.
‘Yes, it was a knock on his ankle, a source told SoccerLaduma. ‘But the team doctor has checked him and it’s nothing serious.’
Khune is now expected to return to action in a couple of days rest.
‘He should be fine in two days and he can resume full training with the rest of the team,’ the source concluded.
Khune missed a large portion of Kaizer Chiefs’ league season later term following a long-term injury.
