Outgoing Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has revealed that he still had a good relationship with Steve Komphela despite his lack of game time.

Khuzwayo is set to leave the Glamour Boys when his current deal expires in July having struggled for playing time under Komphela.

It was clear that Bafana Bafana’s number one Itumeleng Khune was Komphela’s first choice keeper which meant that since 2015, Khuzwayo made just 24 appearances in the PSL.

Despite this, the shot-stopper told MetroFM that he had a good relationship with his former coach.

‘I didn’t celebrate when he [Komphela] quit. We had a good relationship with Komphela.

‘We met a lot at the gym. He has taught me a lot about life besides him not playing me. And you need to understand someone might not like your style but it doesn’t mean you are not good enough,’ he added.

‘It shouldn’t change how you view or treat the person,’ he concluded.

Rumours have already begun swirling regarding the shot-stopper’s future with Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City showing reported interest.
