Bafana Bafana midfielder Daine Klate believes his side are on the front foot ahead of their next World Cup qualifier match against Cape Verde Islands.
Shakes Mashaba’s side recently record a 2-1 victory over the Teranga Lions through two first-half goals by captain Thulani Hlatshwayo and midfielder Thulani Serero at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
The 31-year-old says it was crucial for his side to collect all three points against Senegal as it puts them in a better spot to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
‘I think it was a fantastic result for us,’ Klate said.
‘It was very, very important first and foremost to get the three points at home. We have to take advantage of these types of games. The fans came out in their numbers and as a team we performed as well.’
The Bidvest Wits attacker insists that their victory in their last match will give them an advantage over the Blue Sharks.
‘I think it puts us on the front foot in the group now going away to Cape Verde Islands in our next game,’ he added.
Bidvest Wits will next take on Platinum Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 20:15.
