Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela believe Keagan Buchanan can only ‘grow and get better’ from here following his performance against Orlando Pirates on Saturday.
Amakhosi and the Buccaneers were forced to share the spoils in the Absa Premiership clash following their goalless draw at the FNB Stadium.
The 49-year-old says his side struggled to break down the Sea Robbers defence and could not convert their chances in the final third.
‘We tried to play a constructive game, but we struggled to get behind Pirates’ defence. Still, I feel we had the edge when it came to chances. With matches of this caliber, it’s often that you score a goal and you get a result,’ Komphela told the Kaizer Chiefs website.
Komphela also saw a few positives coming out of the game, the most important one was Keagan Buchanan’s first start:
‘Keagan showed during training that he was ready and when a player is ready you don’t look at the opponent. I thought, “Derby or not, I will throw him in and we will see what happens.” Keagan did well and he can only grow from here and get better,’ he added.
Kaizer Chiefs will next welcome Baroka in the Absa Premiership when the two side’s meet at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
