Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela was pleased with Siphiwe Tshabalala’s performance against Free State Stars in the Telkom Knockout quarter-final on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys exited the tournament after Ea Lla Koto claimed a 6-5 penalty victory, following 120 minutes of football with a locked 2-2 scoreline.

The 32-year-old midfielder threatened against Stars with a header saved by goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni, and was also foiled in a one-on-one situation at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Komphela was impressed with Tshabalala’s performance and his link-up plays with Katsande and Maluleka.

‘Shabba did very well, he did very well,’ Komphela said after the match.

‘He was playing in the number 10 linking up between [Willard] Katsande and [George] Maluleka and he was looking for the runners and he was okay.’

Kaizer Chiefs will next travel to Loftus Versfeld Stadium to take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership on 19 November.

Kick-off has been scheduled for 15:30.
