Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has put his faith in the club’s strikers despite beginning the season with successive losses.

The Amakhosi suffered a 2-1 loss against a last season’s Premiership runners-up Bidvest Wits in their opening game before going down 1-0 to Cape Town City in their MTN8 quarter-final clash on Friday.

Chiefs have shuffled their attacking options in the two matches thus far as the likes of Bernard Parker, Lewis Macha, and substitutes Edward Manqele and Emmanuel Letlotlo, have all been afforded minutes.

But despite none of his strikers having succeeded in hitting the back of the net thus far, Komphela is reserving his judgment.

‘We have [Mitchell] Katsavairo who still needs to get a chance,’ Komphela told KickOff. ‘We have Macha. We only played two matches; one was against Bidvest Wits and one against Cape Town City,’ he coach explained.

‘Our strikers are doing well at training and one will hope that can translate to matches. But adaptation is not easy and there are lots of dynamics to an incoming person like the culture.’

Komphela stressed he is pleased with the signs from his strikers but is hopeful they can soon begin to convert their chances into goals.

‘But from a technical point of view, their finishing is tops, decision-making tops, movement tops, mental, tactical is good but it’s just a question of execution.’

Chiefs will have a chance to bounce back when they face Platinum Stars on Wednesday, September 14.

The match will be played at the FNB Stadium.
