Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has responded to fans who have voiced their anger over the club’s decision to play their Nedbank Cup quarter-final in Port Elizabeth, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
After playing their Nedbank Cup round-of-16 clash in Durban, the Amakhosi move their countrywide tour to Port Elizabeth this weekend as they take on Baroka in the quarter-finals at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.
The Chiefs faithful have been vocal over their anger at the decision to play another game away from Johannesburg.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference at the PSL headquarters, Komphela said that there are Chiefs fans all over the country and there will always be someone disappointed.
‘Whether you go to PE, Polokwane or wherever, there is always Chiefs supporters. So, you never know where the match will be taking place: FNB, Polokwane, Mpumalanga. If you take it anywhere else, whoever does not have it will have a feeling of being hard done by.
‘Maybe the ones in Joburg will feel, why take it to PE? But if you take it to Joburg you will disappoint the fans in PE.
‘The beauty of it is that wherever you go, the Kaizer Chiefs fans will always be there,’ concluded Komphela.
