Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela says the severity of Itumeleng Khune’s injury is yet to be determined after he sustained a knock in their 1-1 draw with Cape Town City on Tuesday.
The injured Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was forced off the field in the 67th minute after denying former Amakhosi striker Lehlohonolo Majoro in front of goal.
Replacing the 29-year-old was shot-stopper Brilliant Khuzwayo, who saw out the rest of the match at the FNB Stadium.
Komphela confirmed that the extent of Khune’s injury must still be determined by the Amakhosi medical team.
‘When I asked him, he said when he went for a save he got knocked, so we’ll see – the medics will give us an update. But it is another on the list of injuries,’ Komphela said after the match.
‘Part of our job as coaches is to keep working. So we have to get the machine working with or without wheels, with or without parts. So, that’s what we’ll do.’
Kaizer Chiefs travel to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to take on Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00.
