Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has promised changes to the side ahead of their MTN8 opener against Cape Town City.
The Amakhosi began the new season on the wrong foot as they crashed to an opening day defeat against last season’s runners-up Bidvest Wits.
Having now turned their attention to the MTN8, the side will be eager to record a pressure-relieving win.
‘Against Wits we didn’t impose our game, but come tomorrow we will, and with confidence too,’ Komphela told the press, reports SoccerLaduma.
‘We allowed them to press us without the arrogance, and we did not respond in the right way. We know where we went wrong and we’re going to rectify that. No difference in the mindset but the margins of error are smaller.’
With the pressure growing on Komphela following a poor season last term he has promised change will come.
‘You can expect changes – we have to do things in a manner that will get a result [against Cape Town City]. You must be addicted to pressure [to coach Chiefs]. This is one great club. Who would not want this job?’
Komphela concluded that his side will be fully prepared for Cape Town City, while he also insisted that the side are not ‘new’ but are comfortable and established in their new surroundings.
The match will be played at Cape Town Stadium.
Kick-off is at 20:00.
