Golden Arrows coach Clinton Larsen says he cannot fault his players after they were beaten 2-0 at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

Abafana Bes’thende fell to their fifth defeat in the Absa Premiership following goals by Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala in either half of their match on Wednesday.

The 45-year-old coach says he was proud of his side’s efforts against the Glamour Boys despite their defeat  but he insists that his side will look to improve their season when they Absa Premiership returns in Feburary.

‘There is an old saying that says,”What matters most in football is what happens in your and your opponents box”, and yesterday’s game was a good example of that,’ Larsen told the Golden Arrows website.

‘Chiefs had one chance in the first half and scored though we should have defended crosses a lot better on the day. We were the dominant side for most of the 2nd half with Fikizolo,Sibeko,Phiri and Sibiya all coming close to scoring but failing to find the back of the net. We conceded the second the same way we did the first, not marking in the box and allowing a free header on target.

‘Once again we cannot fault our players for effort and are proud of what they have achieved in the first round. Top 6 in December with potential to get even better means that we should have a better 2nd round, meaning a successful season.’
