Free State Stars chairman Mike Mokoena has confirmed that head coach Denis Lavagne has departed from the club after taking charge three games for the 2016-17 season.
The former Etoile du Sahel coach was appointed as the new coach of Stars during the off-season after Giovanni Solinas resigned from his post at the end of the 2015-16 season.
The 52-year-old has parted ways with Ea Lla Koto following the clubs 1-0 defeat against Golden Arrows at Goble Park on Wednesday.
However, Lavagne has not won a single match for Stars this season as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Chippa United in their first match of the new season, followed by a goalless draw against Bloemfontein Celtic.
Mokoena revealed that the former Cameroon coach has left the club but is yet to give reasons for his departure.
‘We just told the players now [not to say anything] and this is now in the media. We have some people who are dealing with the media but nevertheless Rantsi [Mokoena, GM] is handling the story,’ Mokoena told KickOff.com.
‘But it’s definitely yes we have parted ways with the coach.’
Free State Stars against SuperSport United kicks off at 20:15.
