New Free State Stars coach Serame Letsoaka says he feels excited to have returned to the club he once captained during his football career.

Letsoaka was appointed the new head coach of Ea Lla Koto following the departure of Giovanni Solinas by mutual consent on Wednesday.

The 53-year-old says he feels excited to be back home after retiring from professional football as a player and says he is grateful for chairman Mike Mokoena for giving hi, the chance to return to the club.

‘I am excited to come back home, this is the club where I started my career as a professional player,’ Letsoaka told the Free State Stars website.

‘I have been gone since 1995 when I hung up my boots and I left the team in 1996 and 20 years later I am back and it’s very exciting because this is the only club I played for as a professional.

‘Coming back home to plough back the knowledge that I have gathered whilst I was out there. It feels great to be given an opportunity by Bra Mike [Mike Mokoena] and his management to lead the team and I am up for the challenge.’

Letsoaka says his main focus is on getting the team out of the danger zone and build on improving the team’s performance going forward.

‘When comes to winning the silverware I am in fact the last captain to lift the trophy for a major silverware for the team, and it will be nice again to lift it again this time as a coach,’ He added.

‘Most importantly is to get the team away from the relegation zone and to get stability in the team and we build the team and make sure that we are the force we use to be.’

When the Absa Premiership returns, Free State Stars will take on Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on February 7.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
