Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha dedicated his Man of the Match award to his mother after what was an emotional game for him against Stellenbosch FC on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old was one of Sundowns’ standout performers as they clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over Stellies at Athlone Stadium through a ninth-minute goal from Themba Zwane.
Pitso Mosimane’s side have now climbed up to second place in the Absa Premiership standings, with 44 points and are now four points behind Kaizer Chiefs, with a game in hand over the current log leaders.
‘Firstly, I’d like to thank my family for always being there for me, secondly, I’d like to thank the coaches and the president of the team as well,’ Madisha told SuperSport TV after the game.
‘I think this award I should give it to my teammates, more especially I should give it to my mom, she has always been there for me.
‘Today has been an emotional game for me, whereby a lot has been happening to me, so this win I dedicate it to my mom. I’ll always love her for everything she has done for me. Thank you.
‘They’ve [his family]been very close to me, they’ve been there for me throughout this journey, so a big thanks to my mom. I’ll always appreciate her for everything she has done, for always being there for me. As you can see I’m a bit emotional for this game.’
