Orlando Pirates defender Innocent Maela says they won’t hold back in the hope of winning the Caf Confederation Cup this season.
The Buccaneers have been drawn in a tough Group B when the continental competition resumes next year following the conclusion of the draw at the Caf headquarters in Cairo on Tuesday.
Pirates made their way to this stage of the competition after they overcame the like of Congolese outfit CSMD Diables Noirs and LPRC Oilers of Liberia in the qualification rounds.
The Soweto giants have now been drawn in Group B alongside the likes of JS Kabylie (Algeria) or Royal Leopards (Eswatini), JS Saoura (Algeria) and Al Ittihad (Libya).
“It’s very important for us to start next year by stringing together a few wins in a row,” Maela told his the club’s official website. “It’s also important for us to start the second half of the season on a high note.”
“The onus is on us to make sure that we face all the challenges, as difficult as it is, but we know that we’re fully capable.
“We’re not going to hold back, because we know that we have the opportunity to win the Confed Cup, plus there’s also the Nedbank Cup.
“So we are not going to hold back. We just have to keep working hard and respecting the processes in place.”
