Cape Town City are considering themselves as serious PSL contenders after signing Lehlohonolo Majoro on a two-year deal at the Cape franchise.

The Bafana Bafana international follows the likes of Australian duo James Brown and Matt Sim, Latvian Renars Rode, Austrian Roland Putsche to ink deals with the newest PSL side.

The club’s ambitious owner John Comitis believes that luring Majoro from Orlando Pirates to City is a major coup for his side and a warning to the rest of the Premiership that the new boys on the block will not be whipping boys this season.

‘We seriously want to be contenders,’ said John Comitis.

‘A team needs to score goals, to win games and this is a clear indication that we mean business.’

The 29-year-old striker previously worked under Eric Tinkler and is also a former Kaizer Chiefs and Amazulu striker.

‘I think we’ve saved the best for last,’ the club’s owner told the media.

‘We are so excited, the squad and the technical team are equally excited as well, and we now hope that the Cape town fraternity will share in our excitement too.

‘We hope Capetonians, will see that we are trying to include everyone and have some more reasons to bring even the Pirates and Chiefs supporters to our home games to see their favourite players now representing #iamCityFC.’

Cape Town City begin their PSL campaign with a home fixture against Polokwane City on August 23.
