Kaizer Chiefs attacker Lebogang Manyama admits that his side had to ‘put on a show’ for the Amakhosi faithful in their triumph over Bloemfontein Celtic.

The Glamour Boys successfully defended their Macufe Cup title after claiming a 2-0 victory over Steve Komphela’s Celtic side.

Goals in either half from Manyama and Dumisani Zuma saw Amakhosi lift their third consecutive title at the Free State Stadium.

Manyama, who was named Man of the Match, says his side will continue to improve after claiming one point from their last two encounters in the Absa Premiership against Highlands Park and Polokwane City respectively.

‘The coach told us during the week that when you play for Chiefs there’s no friendly games, especially with the crowd. You can see everyone was here to see us, give them a show you know,’ Manyama told SuperSport TV after the game.

‘We had to make sure we give them a show. Obviously as a team we didn’t do well in the past two games. We tried to win those games but you have to move on. We’re trying to get better each and every week.

‘Football is not about [only] the eleven players that start week and week out. You also have a squad of 30 or 32 players and today was a chance with the other guys away on international duty. Everybody will be needed at some point during the season. It’s all about the team at the end of the day.’
