Cape Town City captain Lebogang Manyama has credited John Comitis and his teammates for his impressive form this season.
Eric Tinkler’s side will debut in the finals of the Telkom Knockout Cup when they take on SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
The 26-year-old is grateful for the faith owner John Comitis has shown in him. He has started repaying him by scoring eight goals and assisting a further five from 18 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
‘Obviously, the team got sold but lucky for me I was not bought by a stranger. I have worked with John before and I know how he is,’ Manyama said.
‘He welcomed me with an injury after being out for seven to eight months and made me captain. That boosted morale and I am grateful for their support and I am repaying them. But it’s not about me, but the team. As long as the team is doing well I am happy.’
Manyama is honoured to be team captain while learning a lot from experienced players.
‘When you are captain you have to lead in a certain way, but luckily in the team there are lot of people who have been captains before. I have never been captain before,’ he added.
‘I am learning lot from them, senior players like Robyn Johannes, [Vincent] Kobola and Walters who have been in the game for a long time.’
Cape Town City against SuperSport United kicks off at 18:00.
