Cape Town City midfielder Lebogang Manyama believes his side should have beat Baroka in the first 30 minutes of the match, following a seven-goal thriller on Saturday.
Eric Tinkler’s side secured a 4-3 victory over Bakgaga at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday to reach the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout tournament.
The 26-year-old midfielder is delighted with their performance to book a spot in the semi-finals.
‘I always believe there is no space for comments in the results column,’ Manyama said after the match.
‘It is a cup game and we managed to pull through. I am glad the boys did well and we are into the semis now, where we wait.’
Manyama believes they should have won in the first 30 minutes, but with Baroka scoring their first goal before half-time the whole nature of the game changed.
‘In all honesty, if you look at the first half, in the first 30 minutes we could have wrapped this game up. But obviously, when they scored one before half-time it becomes hard.
‘It is their home game, so they are gonna keep coming because we all know how they play. They play with the crowd behind them and they have got very good individuals.
‘So, we had to soldier on and I’m glad we’re the ones that pulled through at the end of the day.’
Cape Town City will next take on Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on 19 November.
The match at the Philippi Stadium kicks off at 15:30.
