Cape Town City captain Lebogang Manyama says his side cannot make excuse for their 4-0 defeat against Platinum Stars on Tuesday night.

Eric Tinkler’s side made history when they won their first piece of silverware when they beat SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout Cup last week.

However, they were brought down to earth by Dikwena, who snapped a four-game losing run in style at Athlone Stadium.

The 26-year-old admits that his side didn’t have the mental and physical strength to overcome Dikwena but insists that his side will accept the defeat and focus on their next Absa Premiership encounter.

‘The weekend game took a lot from us, mentally and physically,’ Manyama told KickOff.com.

‘But we cannot look for excuses I think we were just bad as a team. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the legs to match them. Four-nil was a bad reflection and we accept it.’

‘Talking about it won’t help, we can only learn from such things.’

Cape Town City will next welcome SuperSport United to the Cape Town Stadium when the two side’s meet on Saturday in the Absa Premiership.

Kick-off has been set for 18:00.
