Maritzburg United and Thamsanqa Mkhize have parted ways after the defender failed to agree on personal terms over a new contract at the club.

The 27-year-old met with the club management over a new contract but could not agree on terms, with his previous contract up at the end of June, reports KickOff.com.

Mkhize’s manager Sizwe Ntshangase confirmed that his client will not be playing for Maritzburg this season and will decide on his next club in the near future.

‘Yes, it’s true, Mkhize is not returning back to Maritzburg,’ Ntshangase said.

‘We will decide his future in football very soon,’ he added.

Former Bloemfontein Celtic defender Bevan Fransman is expected to fill Mkhize’s spot in the Maritzburg squad after his exit from Bloemfontein was confirmed on Sunday.

The former Golden Arrows defender made 17 Absa Premiership appearances for the Team of Choice last season scoring one goal as his side narrowly avoided relegation after ending the season in 14th place.
