Maritzburg United Communications Manager Brian Zuma have confirmed that striker Gregory Maasdorp has been released by the club with immediate effect.

The 28-year-old has put in a request to be released by the club after not featuring for the club this season.

Maasdorp joined the Team of Choice midway through the 2015-16 season from Bloemfontein Celtic in the middle of last season after the appointment of head coahc Ernst Middendorp.

Zuma has revealed that the player requested, he be released from his contract and is now free to join any club of his choice as he goes in search of much needed game time.

‘We have released Gregory on his request. He has not been playing, so it’s only fair to allow him the opportunity to try his luck for game-time elsewhere. We wish the boy good luck for the future,’ Zuma told the Maritzburg United website.
