Maritzburg United defender Themba Tshabalala says he is confident that his side will have a promising 2016-17 season.
The 29-year-old has vast experience in the beautiful game and has travelled substantially, now finding himself in the Capital City of KwaZulu-Natal, reports the Maritzburg website.
The former Jomo Cosmos defender says he is impressed with his progress at training after receiving a warm welcome since his transfer from Free State Stars.
‘The guys made me feel at home and I’m settling well. I also came here with my family, so I’m okay,’ Tshabalala said.
‘So far so good, I had a minor injury, but now I feel a big difference. I’m not yet involved in contact sessions, but I’m working on my fitness and I’m doing very well.
‘Soon I’ll be involved in everything the guys are doing.’
Tshabalala says he is confident that the Team of Choice will have a ‘promising’ 2016-17 season.
‘I believe that this season we will win something. The team is gelling very well, it’s really promising. I’m very confident of victory,’ he added.
The former Bidvest Wits defender has pleaded to the United fans to keep up the support ahead of the new season.
‘I could see on TV or when we came to play at Harry Gwala, the stadium was full. I ask them to continue with the support, we will make them happy this season,’ the defender said.
‘We are not here to add numbers, but to add value and bring happiness to them.’
During his three-year stint at Ea Lla Koto, Tshabalala has featured in a total of 46 Absa Premiership matches, helping his side to a 12th place finish last season and securing their PSL status for the new season.
