Veteran striker Collins Mbesuma has expressed his delight at becoming the fifth player to score 100 goals in the Absa Premiership.
Highlands Park suffered a 3-2 defeat against Polokwane City, however, the 32-year-old reach the landmark of netting 100 goals in the PSL after scoring a 30th-minute penalty at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Zambian striker says he feels honoured to join a group of great players to have achieved 100 goals and says he will continue to work hard to help his side during their debut season in the Absa Premiership.
‘It was not good that we lost the game when I scored my 100th goal in the PSL. It’s a great achievement for me.’ Mbesuma told SoccerLaduma.
‘I have worked hard to be where I am today and I will continue to work hard. I wish we could have won the game against City because it could have meant a lot for me and the team.
‘But it’s a great achievement and I am happy that I have joined a group of great players in history.’
Highlands Park will now welcome Cape Town City to the Makhulong Stadium in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.
The match is scheduled for 19:30.
