Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthy has revealed that he will be looking to bolster his squad in the upcoming transfer window.

The former Bafana Bafana striker praised his side for their admirable performance this season while also pointing out the holes in their squad that need to be addressed.

McCarthy pointed out that the lack of quality up front has been a problem for City this season.

‘We lost Lebo [Lebogang Manyama], we lost Major [Lehlohonolo Majoro], Victor [Obinna], when he took too long to get into it and by the time he was ready, the club grew frustrated and parted ways and obviously [Matthew] Rusike came in and broke down.

‘It has been tough physically on the guys. I have to give credit to the guys because from the first game of the season we have been top four, and now we are top six,’ he added.

McCarthy is certain that he has the financial backing of John Comitis, the Cape Town City FC chairman, and expects there to be an investment.

‘If only I had a little bit more quality in the right department. Of course, I have got the backing of the chairman, but I am not sure if he is going to give me the pot that I need. I would love to think so because I think that we don’t need to strengthen that much, it’s just a few areas here and there you know, but I don’t want to plug holes. I want to get the right guys and the right personnel because I know, if we get three or four players in, then I think we can be a good fit for next season.’
