Maritzburg United midfielder Deolin Mekoa says he wants to show Kaizer Chiefs what his side are capable of when the two side’s meet in the Telkom Knockout Cup on Saturday.
The 23-year-old says he feels that the Team of Choice could well have got more from their clash with Amakhosi last month but he insists that his side will go out hoping for a victory over the Soweto giants.
‘I was really waiting to draw against Kaizer Chiefs because in the league it was something else. So with this game we just want to go out there and show them that we are capable of winning against them,’ Mekoa told the Maritzburg United website.
‘We didn’t deserve to lose that game because the way we started off that game. I mean 20 minutes into the game we were dominating after our goals were disallowed that is when everything just went down. So they owe us.’
The Bafana Bafana midfielder says the Team of Choice has set an objective of trying to go all the way through to the finals of every tournament and cup match on offer this season.
‘We give our all because when we talk we always have some targets. What we really target are the tournaments or cup games while in the league we challenge for a spot in the top 8 place. It is possible we can go all the way,’ he added.
Maritzburg United against Kaizer Chiefs kicks off at 20:15.
