Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo was impressed by Joaquim Lupeta’s eagerness to score goals in their 6-1 victory over Stellenbosch in a friendly match.
The 23-year-old bagged a hat-trick for the Urban Warriors at the Coetzenburg Stadium, as they look to regain their form during the international break.
‘What I was pleased to see is Jucie’s eagerness to score goals, to go forward,’ Menzo told the Ajax Cape Town website.
‘Obviously, there are things to improve on, but one thing about a striker is that you have to be eager to score goals.’
The 53-year-old coach was equally impressed by attacking midfielder Neo Makua’s play.
‘Neo did well, first time I actually saw him playing, so yes – give the players in the starting lineup competition, we need competition in this team so that we improve each other and the moment someone has an off day we can bring other players in and the level will remain high,’ he added.
Ajax Cape Town will next take on Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The match at Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
