Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere has urged his side to improve on their defensive performance after conceding 10 goals in their last four matches.
Dikwena fell to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Polokwane City at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in the Absa Premiership on Saturday.
The 32-year-old says he is disappointed in his side’s defensive work rate after conceding their 10th goal in their last four matches.
‘It’s very disappointing but I can’t question the effort from the boys. Once again we let ourselves down. We keep on committing silly mistakes at the back,’ Mere told the Platinum Stars website.
‘This is top flight. This is a top league in South Africa so you do that kind of mistakes you are going to get punished. We are going to have to go back and rectify our mistakes and look forward to the next game.’
The Dikwena skipper has urged his side to start converting their chances in the final third and start turning their performances into positive results.
‘We have made this a slaughter house in the previous seasons but now it’s like everybody comes here and we are like Father Christmas giving them points,’ he added.
‘We should put an end to that. It’s difficult already playing away. We need to take the opportunity when we are playing at home.’
Platinum Stars will now travel to Cape Town Stadium when they take on Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership on December 13.
Kick-off has been scheduled for 19:30.
