Kamohelo Mokotjo enjoyed a fantastic match as he inspired Twente to a dominant win in what was an otherwise troubled week for South Africans abroad.  

Mokotjo was on fire for his Dutch side as they recorded a resounding 4-1 victory over Den Haag in the Dutch Eredivisie. Playing the full game and having set up teammate Enes Unal’s goal, the 25-year-old midfielder grabbed his side’s fourth of the match in extra time to put the icing on the cake.

Over in Turkey, Tokelo Rantie will be pleased to have made his debut for Genclerbirligi as he came off the bench in the 79th minute but will be disappointed his side could not hold onto their 1-0 lead as opponents Konyaspor equalised just a minute later.

There was a defeat for Lebogang Phiri and his Danish side Brondby as their impressive unbeaten run came to an end following a 2-1 loss to Viborg on Sunday. Phiri played the full 90 minutes for his side but proved unable to influence the result.

Meanwhile, across the border in Sweden, Bradley Ralani played the full game as his Helsingborg side were on the wrong side of a 2-1 loss to Norrkoping. Also in Sweden, young striker Luther Singh was thrown on after 83 minutes but could not find a winner as his Gais side drew 1-1 with Afc United.

Over in France, former Orlando Pirates star Kermit Erasmus made a rare appearance off the bench for Rennes but could not inspire a turnaround against Monaco. The striker came on in the 75th minute with his side 1-0 down but they eventually lost the game 3-0.

Finally, there was much frustration for Steven Pienaar across the English Channel as the former Bafana Bafana captain was hauled off after 63 minutes for Sunderland following a shocking miss in the Black Cats’  1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. Pienaar squandered his side’s best chance in the first half after being teed up by Adnan Janujaz but could not beat the defender on the line.
