Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena is relishing the chance to end the Buccaneers’ seven-year trophy drought.

The Buccaneers will be hoping to rediscover their form when they take on newcomers Stellenbosch FC in the Telkom Knockout Cup last-16 encounter at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

This will be the first of two back-to-back fixtures between the two sides, who meet again seven days later in the Absa Premiership in Cape Town.

Mokwena has warned his side not to underestimate Stellies as they are unpredictable, especially with the likes of Iqraam Rayners and Waseem Isaacs in the squad.

‘Orlando Pirates need trophies. We know about our drought. It’s a seven-year drought and the number seven is very symbolic. If you go to the Bible, the number seven is mentioned many times. It’s symbolic,’ Mokwena told the media.

‘We are playing a tough team in Stellenbosch FC. We have a team that is trying to make a name for itself at this level so we have a lot of work against them.’

The match at Orlando Stadium kicks off at 6pm.
