Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has made his picks of players who he thinks will play a starring role at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Sundowns has a total of 11 players at the AFCON including 10 in the Bafana Bafana squad including Ronwen Williams, Grant Kekana, Terrence Mashego, Aubrey Modiba, Mothobi Mvala, Khuliso Mudau, Themba Zwane, Teboho Mokoena, Thapelo Maseko and Thapelo Morena.
Meanwhile, in-form striker Peter Shalulile will also be representing the Namibian national team after making the final squad for the competition.
Apart from his players, Mokwena has tipped Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Mohammed Kudus of Ghana to shine at the continental tournament.
“Victor Osimhen is one player who is in great form and we have seen his abilities in front of goal,” Mokwena told his club’s official website.
“He leads the line confidently and scores lots of great goals and in tournaments like this, you need goals. I also think Achraf Hakimi is an exceptional player who can change the course of games in several ways.
“Mohammed Kudus is another game changer who I expect to impress at the tournament.”
