Midfielder Thapelo Morena has sought to explain why he elected to join Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The wing has yet to officially confirm his switch to the Chloorklop side from present club Bloemfontein Celtic, but a move is expected to be confirmed later on Tuesday.
Morena, who allegedly also attracted interest from Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, has referenced Sundowns’ style of as a key facet of his choice.
‘It means a lot to me [joining Sundowns], it shows my hard work is paying off,’ Morena told KickOff.
‘Football is something else. I sat down and spoke to my parents and my agent before deciding which team to join. I chose Sundowns because they have a lot of players that plays the kind of football that I prefer,’ the star admitted.
Meanwhile, the South Africa U23 star is adamant that he is not frightened of competition at the club, explaining that competition will force him to improve.
Morena scored six times in 31 appearances for Celtic last term.
