Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is drawing from Orlando Pirates’ past experiences as he seeks to lead his side to continental glory.
Sundowns recently qualified for the Caf Champions League final following a 3-2 aggregate victory over Zesco United and will now face Zamalek in the two-legged final of the competition.
The coach admitted he had taken inspiration from Pirates’ previous success in the competition and hopes to repeat their success.
‘Pirates is the flagship of continental football in South Africa. We need to learn from Orlando Pirates. We just need to copy the book from Pirates,’ Mosimane told KickOff.
Mosimane has thanked the inputs of Eric Tinkler and Roger De Sa for sharing their experiences of the Cad competitions, pair having previously guided Pirates to the final of the Caf Champions League and Confederations Cup respectively.
‘They say keep quiet, keep it clean, get the second ball in the midfield. Just grind the results. It’s not about you looking good, just grind the results. We learn from both Roger and Eric, they have done well,’ Mosimane added.
Sundowns two final ties against Zamalek will take place next month.
The Premiership champions will play the first game at home on October 14 before travelling to Egypt for the away leg of the tie a week later.
The kick-off time for the matches is to be confirmed.
