Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says he was pleased with his side’s performance against Polokwane City in the Telkom Knockout Cup on Thursday.
The Brazilians claimed a 2-0 victory over Rise and Shine with goals by Hlompho Kekana and Themba Zwane to set up a quarter-final meeting with SuperSport United.
Mosimane has credited Polokwane coach Luc Eymael’s ability to improve his team’s performance, declaring that Rise and Shine are a dangerous team this season.
‘This Polokwane team is a very, very good side. We have been beaten a very well-organised team,’ Mosimane said.
‘I saw them against Orlando Pirates [1-1 draw], they are very dangerous. That coach [Luc Eymael] is doing a very good job.’
The 52-year-old coach believes there is no team in the Absa Premiership that matches his side, but also said they will stay humble after progressing to the next round of the tournament.
‘I’m not bragging, but I always tell my players that Sundowns can only lose to Sundowns,’ he added.
‘We are through to the next round, let’s just take it and be humble.’
Mamelodi Sundowns will now return to the Absa Premiership when they take on Cape Town City on Sunday.
The match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium kicks off at 15:30.
