Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane will challenge a charge of disrepute laid by the PSL following a dugout dispute two months ago.
The charge was laid following a squabble between Mosimane’s Sundowns side and players from the opposition outfit SuperSport United in an MTN8 clash at the Loftus Stadium on August 28.
The incident was alleged to have been sparked by a dispute over which bench the sides would occupy, leading to a regrettable confrontation which has landed Mosimane in hot water for his role therein.
‘I have got a letter. I am gonna be charged,’ Mosimane told KickOff.
‘I will fight this one … this I am going to fight. You can’t tell me. Even Neeskens was sitting on the right, Stoichkov was sitting on the right, and I must sit on the left?’
The coach admitted he was well aware of Fifa’s rulings over where home and away sides were expected to sit for matches and maintains he acted in accordance with the correspondence he received.
‘If it’s home on Fifa, I am sitting left. Team A sits on left. He [PSL official, Luxolo September] was in the World Cup. He knows. I was also in the World Cup, remember, so I know where I am sitting there is no question.
‘Let’s get this clear. This thing of me fined of warming up on left or right, we are going to watch a movie here,’ the coach concluded.
Sundowns went on to record a 3-1 victory over SuperSport, but ultimately failed to lift the trophy as they were thumped by Bidvest Wits in the final.
