Kaizer Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung has angrily denied claims the side failed to engage players prior to a wave of contract terminations this week.

Motaung has defended the Soweto giants for their transfer dealings after numerous Chiefs players were said to have turned to the SA Football Players Union following their sacking on Tuesday,

‘No player can say they were not consulted,’ Motaung told the Sowetan.

‘Some players signed settlement agreements, others have termination letters,’ he added.

Motaung failed to elaborate on the confusion surrounding Siboniso Gaxa’s tenure at the club. The veteran defender was listed among a drove of players whose contracts are not set for renewal, despite the player claiming to have agreed a two-year deal last year.

‘If Pa [Gaxa] has a problem, he must come to us at the [Chiefs] Village. We have an open-door policy and we can explain everything. I’m not going to comment on what happened last year.’

Gaxa was reportedly stunned to learn he was being let go by the side, as the player believed he had a year to go on his contract.

But Motaung has simply stated: ‘We are not fighting against anyone. If he’s unsure of anything, he knows where to go. I will not engage him via the media.’

Chiefs finished a disappointing 5th in the Absa Premiership this term.
