Mamelodi Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe believes the club’s new boy Sibusiso Vilakazi is set to make a dramatic impact with the side.
Vilakazi finally confirmed his switch to Chloorkop on Sunday as a swap deal between Downs and Bidvest Wits was finally agreed, which saw Cuthbert Malajila and Mogakolodi Ngele go the other way.
‘We are excited to welcome Sibusiso Vilakazi to the Mamelodi Sundowns family,’ Motsepe told Sundowns’ official website.
‘We have been monitoring him for quite some time and I am confident that he will make a huge contribution to the growth and success of Sundowns,’ the president said.
Motsepe revealed the signing reflected the club’s playing philosophy, while he also extended a welcome to fellow new signings Lucky Mohomi and Ricardo Nascimento.
‘We are now taking a longer time monitoring and assessing players who we think will fit in with our style and culture of play before we acquire them.
‘We have made mistakes in the past and we hope that we have learned from our mistakes. We are also very happy to welcome Lucky Mohomi and Ricardo Nascimento to Mamelodi Sundowns.’
Sundowns are currently participating in the Caf Champions League and are currently top of Group B. The side will have a chance to build on their promising position when they take on Zamalek at home on Wednesday.
The match will be played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
