The South African Football Association (SAFA) will be charging former referee Ace Ncobo for bringing the governing body and football into disrepute.
The governing body made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday after Ncobo’s public spat with Safa and their president Dr Danny Jordaan.
The former PSL general manager has spoken openly about his lack of trust in the leadership of Safa and also recently called on Fifa to place Safa under administration for allegedly violating its electoral codes.
The former referee is the only challenger to Jordaan in the next Safa presidential elections.
Following the war of words, Safa released a statement confirming that Ncobo will be dragged before the disciplinary committee at the association.
‘The South African Football Association will be charging former referee Ace Ncobo for bringing the association and football into disrepute,’ confirmed the statement.
‘We have preferred charges against him and he will soon be hauled before the Safa Disciplinary Committee to answer charges of misconduct,’ said Safa CEO Dennis Mumble.
‘The Safa legal team is busy preparing the charge sheet which will be presented to Ncobo,’ confirmed Safa.
