Ncube backs Chipeta to fill Mobara gap

Ajax Cape Town left back Milton Ncube believes Erick Chipeta is the perfect replacement for Abbubaker Mobara, who joined Orlando Pirates.

The 26-year-old spent two seasons at Chippa United where he scored four goals and created three assists from 42 appearances in all competitions before moving to the Urban Warriors in July 2016.

Ncube admits that Mobara and Riyaad Norodien’s transfer to Orlando Pirates caught everybody by surprise.

‘I think that one [Mobara and Norodien’s sale] caught all of us by surprise,’ Ncube told Goal.com.

‘No one saw it coming and we were as shocked when we told they would be leaving, I wish them well.

The 29-year-old went on to say that Chipeta is the best person to replace Mobara as he has similar traits to the versatile defender.

‘But I think in Eric, not because he is my friend or something, we have a perfect replacement for Bara [Mobara],’ he said.

‘Just like him, he is versatile, solid at centre back and across other defensive positions.

‘We can also use him in defensive midfield so that says a lot about his abilities and I am really glad he joined us, he will add a lot of quality to the squad,’ the left back added.

The Urban Warriors has already completed the signings of Chipeta and Victor Abondo and has promoted seven youngsters from their academy.

Ajax has reported made AmaTuks winger Thabo Mosadi their next target after letting go of Mobara, Norodien, Franklin Cale, Ashely Hartog and Ruzaigh Gamildien.
