South Africa star Dino Ndlovu will get the chance to play in this season’s Europa League following his Azerbaijani club Qarabag’s qualification.
Qarabag booked their place in the competition after recording a convincing 3-1 aggregate victory over Swedish side IFK Goteborg.
Ndlovu, who has only just joined the club, came on with seven minutes still play in his side’s second-leg of the tie on Thursday, helping them over the line as they recorded a 3-0 victory on the night to overcome their 1-0 first-leg deficit.
Ndlovu and his teammates now await the tournament’s group stage draw on Friday, where Qarabag could come up against one of a host of European giants, including the likes of Manchester United, Inter Milan, Roma, Villarreal or Ajax Amsterdam.
Lebogang Phiri’s Brondby side were less fortunate, however, as they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Greek outfit Panathinaikos. That result saw them dumped out of the qualifiers 4-1 on aggregate.
