Mamelodi Sundowns wing Siyabulela Shai looks set to exit Chloorkop after reports indicated the player has not formed part of coach Pitso Mosimane’s plans.
Shai, who spent last season on loan at Maritzburg United, was recently recalled to his parent club amidst rumours he was poised to sign a new two-year contract.
Any such deal has not come to fruition, however, as it now appears the player is surplus to requirements at the club.
‘The team had a look at the position. Percy Tau is playing in a similar position and he is breaking through, and they have lots to cover with, so there is no space for Shai,’ a source told SoccerLaduma.
With the big name signing of Sibusiso Vilakazi at Sundowns in addition to the acquisition of Lucky Mohomi from Free State Stars, Mosimane’s side find themselves well catered for in the attacking midfield departments.
With Shai’s contract at Masandawana now having been allowed to run down the wing has been rendered a free agent.
The player made just six appearances last term, scoring once.
