Orlando Pirates caretaker coach Augusto Palacios says he was delighted with his side’s improved performance against Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro scored a superb goal to claim his eighth goal of the season so far after beating his marker and finishing with his left foot strike into the bottom corner.
Palacios has revealed that he was delighted to have walked away with all three points despite their narrow victory but he also admits that his side still has a lot of work to do in order to get to the level he wants for them.
‘We proved not yet what I want but the character of the players after they got the goal [was good to push for more goals]. We need to correct some mistakes, but these three points are more important,’ Palacios told SuperSport.
‘We practised [finishing], I was telling Ndoro the goal he has scored, we practised, but he was a little bit in a hurry and sometimes the angle was close, but we need to improve.
‘Today we improved a little but, and we will continue working harder, but today the three points were very important.’
Orlando Pirates will now travel to the Philippi Stadium when they take on Chippa United in the Absa Premiership on Tuesday.
Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
