Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker has revealed that a conversation that football manager Bobby Motaung had with the squad over the international break has helped them regain their confidence, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
Prior to the international break, Chiefs were in turmoil after failing to win any of their Absa Premiership games while also getting knocked out of the MTN8 by SuperSport United at the semi-final stage.

New coach Giovanni Solinas would have already been feeling the pressure, but the Glamour Boys have seemingly turned the corner, winning two games on the spin by thrashing Cape Town City 4-1 and cruising past Free State Stars with a 2-0 victory to climb up to fourth on the Absa Premiership log.
Speaking at a media day held at the Chiefs training ground in Naturena, Parker revealed that the squad benefited from being able to mentally refresh themselves during the break.
‘When we went into the Fifa break, we all came together with our football manager Bobby who said that we should just believe that we are the best.

‘We have worked more on the mental part of football, always staying clear in your mind so that you can perform better.’
Parker added that the break afforded them the chance to conduct video sessions to analyse their start to the season. They looked at the positives while Solinas also calmed their fears of making mistakes by showing them clips of big European sides and how they deal with errors and still go on to win the game.
‘To be honest, the mental part of our training has helped us a lot and I hope it stays like this and we can continue delivering good results for the club,’ concluded the veteran forward.
