Al Ahly forward Percy Tau performed his rehabilitation programme in a training session at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
The South African international picked up an anterior muscle injury during Ahly’s humiliating 3-0 defeat by Smouha in the Egyptian League Cup this past weekend.
Tau is expected to be sidelined for up to four weeks and will not participate in the Fifa Club World Cup, despite being named and travelling with the squad to UAE.
Al Ahly are set to face Mexico outfit Monterrey in their knockout clash on Saturday evening at the Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The Red Devils released the following statement on Tau’s recovery:
“Percy Tau, Al Ahly forward, carried out recovery exercises on the sidelines of Tuesday’s training session at Zayed Cricket Stadium.
“Tau picked up an anterior muscle injury and he is currently performing his rehabilitation program to fully recover.
“The Red Eagles are currently preparing to face Monterrey of Mexico on 5 February in the preliminary round of the FIFA Club World Cup.”
