Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane admits his side had a “very difficult” time playing against a “very strong” Ghazl El Mahalla side in their Egyptian Premier League clash on Monday evening.
The Red Eagles continued their perfect start to the campaign after claiming their fifth consecutive win in the league with their 3-2 victory over Ghazl El Mahalla at the El Mahalla Stadium.
Goals from Mohamed Magdy, Percy Tau and Ali Maaloul were enough to see Ahly to victory and cancel out a goal from Abdel Kader Yehia and an own goal from Akram Tawfik.
The win has Mosimane’s side remaining at the top of the Egyptian Premier League standings, with 15 points from five games, while Ghazl El Mahalla are in fourth place on eight points after five matches played thus far.
“Ghazl El Mahalla are a very strong team and we must respect them. It is very difficult to play against them at their home ground,” Mosimane told his club’s official website.
“The pitch’s condition is not the best, but we are not here to complain about the pitch. It is not easy for any team to come here and win.”
The Al Ahly mentor concluded his media conference by saying that “Luis Miquissone had a great game tonight and played an important role in scoring the winning goal”.
The Red Devils will now be hoping to make it six wins out of six when they welcome Smouha SC to the Al-Salam Stadium in their next Egyptian Premier League encounter on Thursday evening, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm.
