Al Ahly boss Mahmoud El Khatib believes that Pitso Mosimane deserves an increase on his salary for his achievements with the club despite the coach only asking for reassurance and not financial increases on his deal.
The coach is believed to be on a contract worth R54 million and despite winning back-to-back CAF Champions League titles the coach is entering the last 12 months of his contract with the club, with rumours suggesting he could have been set to leave.
That, however, was quickly worked out by the club and Pitso after they held talks last month.
Now the Al Ahly boss has opened up on the reasons talks stalled while also insisting that he deserves an increase.
“Mosimane didn’t ask for a salary increase, he wanted to feel safe about his position, that’s why we increased the release clause from three to six months,” El Khatib told OnTime Sports as per KingFut.
“With elections starting soon, we preferred to postpone the contract extension talks, but the coach didn’t ask for a salary change. However, he does deserve an increase after his achievements with the club.
