Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane says he’ll take several youngsters to the Fifa Club World Cup in the UAE following their fine form in the EPL Cup.

The Red Eagles youngsters put on yet another great performance in the EPL Cup on Friday despite playing out to a 1-1 draw with Al Mokawloon on match-day three.

Al Mokawloon opened the scoring after former Ahly striker Mohamed Hamdy Zaky converted from the spot kick, but Ziad Tarek scored the equaliser 10 minutes into the second half with a glancing header to earn his side a point.

Mosimane hailed the performance of his youthful players in the EPL Cup games, admitting that he’ll take some of them with to participate in the Club World Cup.

“The first game for these young players was the most difficult game because they had to break the ice. They were nervous and were not sure about themselves and never played at this level,” Mosimane told his club’s official website.

“What was important, was to make them aware that they have nothing to lose but they have everything to gain and they have to test their level against Egyptian Premier League teams and to convince them with the tactics and to be organised.

“The only goal we conceded from a normal play was against Ismaily in Alexandria. Even today, the penalty [is] because the player is inexperienced but it is OK; they are young players and they learn from their mistakes.

“I am so happy that we scored today from a normal play. It was a good goal.

“We have identified a few players that we will take to the Fifa Club World Cup.”
