Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane is determined to win a future gold medal after they walked away with their second consecutive bronze at the Fifa Club World Cup.
The Red Devils secured third place in the Club World Cup after ditching Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal in a commanding 4-0 victory at the Al Nahyan Stadium this past Saturday.
A brace by Yasser Ibrahim and goals from Ahmed Abdelkader and Amr El Soulia helped them claim their biggest victory in the history of the Club World Cup by defeating Al Hilal, while also becoming the African team with the most wins in the competition’s history.
Mosimane expressed his delight at finishing third in his post-match interview after their third-place playoff match, while also touching on their upcoming fixture in the Caf Champions League.
“This medal is better than last year’s medal. We came here in Abu Dhabi with several injured players. So, that’s why for me this one [bronze] is special,” Mosimane told his club’s official website.
“The next step from now is the Caf Champions League because we want to come back here. We know the way to come back here because we won the previous two Caf Champions League titles.
“This medal is good for the team, good for Africa, good for everyone. We have the spirit and we fought against all odds.
“Al Ahly supporters have been supporting us in the past and not only now. They supported us when we lost to Palmeiras.
“We have to try to win the gold medal in the future even though it’s difficult to come here, but we will try to do our best.”
